Ide awal album kompilasi ini adalah ketika saya perhatikan banyak banget versi lagu Fly Me To The Moon, dari Susan Wong, Sitti Navarro, Peppi Kamadhatu dll. Kemudian saya mengusulkan pada bro Blackmamba untuk bikin album Battlejazz, album yang memperdengarkan lagu2 jazz terbaik yang dibawakan oleh penyanyi yang berbeda dengan gaya dan aransemen yang berbeda pula. Karena keterbatasan saya akan ilmu per-jazz-an, maka saya merekomendasikan sis Jazzalova untuk membantu bro Blackmamba
so, ga usah banyak kata lagi, silakan nikmati album kompilasi Battlejazz khusus untuk teman2 Jazz Crew United. thx to bro Blackmamba n sis Jazzalova. thx to all of you Kaskus Jazz Crew United

"Battle".. when we heard this word, seems so scarry and rude. But not this time. Battle is not always for a bad cause. It can be somekind a comparison between one another. Just like this compilation we create this time. First idea came up from bro Fich which is so briliant with this idea. And then we discussed it and made some selection with our BlackMamba, so here it comes 16 compositions called Battle Jazz. We have 1 title but in 2 different touch and arrangement. There is L.O.V.E with Natalie Cole and Josh Stone touch, Walk on By battled between Dionne Warwick and Bobby Caldwell and You're Everything my lifetime favorite! and so much more great tunes. Yes We called it a battle coz the variety among those compositions. All we tryin to say is Battle in Jazz, is so very much FUN!
And we only find it in here, our lovely thread in the whole world, Kaskus Jazz Community.

BattlejazZ? idenya bro Fich ini bener2 menarik dan bikin gw semangat. Blum pernah rasanya gw ketemu album yang "mempertandingkan" dua artis dalam satu arena lagu yg sama. So, gw ama J-Lo (JazzLoVa maksutnya hehe.. ) kerja bareng, ngelist berbagai lagu yg kita dasari dalam banyak hal, at least salah satu kriteria terpenuhi, spt lagu2nya terkenal dan enak, versinya sebisanya beda genre sekaligus genrenya variatif, penyanyinya cowo vs cewe, dari generasi berbeda, kedua versi harus sama2 bagus, sekaligus kita ngangkat lagu2 yg mungkin udah langka, udah terlupakan, padhal lagu2 itu punya sejarah kuat di dunia musik khususnya jazz. Ambil contoh lagu Cantaloop nya US3, jadi tonggak pencetus istilah acid jazz, dan versi aslinya? om Herbie Hancock, back in the sixties.Atau Love Unlimited (grup bentukan Barry White) yang dulu jadi rajanya disco, ga ada diskotik yg ga muter lagu Love's Theme.. Toto, grup rock yang seringkali main2 di zona jazz, lagunya kembali "hidup" di dunia modern lewat Smoma, dua2nya asik banget. Lagu Over The Rainbow, merupakan lagu pertama yg dinyanyiin Jane Monheit , ketika dia masih berumur 2 tahun. Dan lain2.. so, setelah ngumpulin puluhan lagu, kita seleksi dengan kriteria2 diatas, akhirnya 16 lagu ini terpilih secara musyawarah mufakat (kaya rapat RT/RW aja hehe.. ) untuk tampil di album ini.

So here you go guys, 16 great and unforgettable songs, dikali dua, one on one dalam duel seru. Double pleasure. Siapa yang menang? ya kita sbg penikmatnya. As usual, hope you enjoy our presentation.
